After the debut albums from Future Beat Alliance and Aardvarck, Delsin strikes again with this very deep soulful ambient techno album by Dimension 5. Until now Dimension 5 did have only released one 12”, but one which was directly praised by Fabrice Lig, Laurent Garnier and others. His album ‘Alien Artform’ goes more into the deep, ambient like techno, coming gentle & sub tile. His sounds come in style of Jon Beltran & Detroit Escalator Company on one side, while reminding to Kenny Larkin and Aril Brikha as well. Techno as it was once meant to be, soulful & deep. Dimension 5 is the moniker of John Harvey, entering the year 2002, 31 years old. In his early days he was into 80's synth-pop like the Human League. Hearing Chicago house (Adonis etc.) in 1987 inspired him to make music himself. After that hearing early Detroit techno and getting into all forms of dance music - early UK house/acid house/ /rave etc. as well as into hip hop. He made all of this kind of music until he caught-up with Detroit techno again in about 1995 hearing Kenny Larkin, Robert Hood, etc. and from then on he’s been influenced by this kind of music – soulful electronic-dance, which has resulted in this beautiful album ‘Alien Artform’.

this is still one of the 3 best releases on delsin (from my pov) on delsin until the end of 2009. i hope john will do a second one. at 4:01PM on December 21st, 2009
